I always love to find deals on clothing at Kohl's, however, I don't see the store as a go-to place for home decor. That might change for me though with their Elle collection. I came across some newer items from the collection on their website, and I loved what I saw! Check out a sampling of them:
1. White Candleholder
2. Horn Bowl
3. Vase
4. Pillar Candleholder
5. Antler Decor
6. Leaf Decorative Pillow
7. Bone Decorative Box
8. Accent Table
Unfortunately a lot of these items never seem to make it to the stores (at least not mine,) but for the prices, you probably can't go wrong. I'm eyeing that little bone inlay box...it might make its way onto my coffee table (which desperately needs some fun decorative items).
Have you bought anything from this collection before? Tell me what you think!

My New Purchase
Good morning! I hope you all had a great weekend. I am working weekends now, so things are a little different. But my new job is going well, making it all worth it!
I wanted to share a recent purchase for the condo that I'm excited about. I know sunburst mirrors have been around for a long time, and many people are ready for them to go away. I however, only recently developed a big crush on them, and have been searching for an affordable one to call my own. I think they add such a glam touch to any space.
Luckily, thanks to winning a giveaway for CSN Stores over at Small & Chic in C-ville, I finally bought one! It now sits above my bookcase, but I can see it one day looking great over a fireplace or in an entryway.
What do you guys think? Thanks again Jeannine!

World Market Mood Boards
Hi everyone! Sorry I have been posting so little lately. I am having a hard time adjusting to my new job schedule. I've been feeling really tired at the end of the day! My brain is so full of new information, that it's been hard to even think about what to blog about... I really hope this will change soon. I have some ideas for the blog, I just need time to focus on it! Thanks for hanging in there.
Anyway, I received the new flyer for Cost Plus World Market, and was really inspired by some of their new items! I have shopped there for several years, but feel like each year that store just keeps getting better. Specifically, I really liked the new Josephine desk! It's a nice, more affordable alternative to the Parsons desk.
I was so inspired by this desk, I thought I would create some mood boards showing a few different home office ideas, using items from World Market.

Shopping at Upscale Resale
This past weekend I finally checked out a furniture consignment store near my home. I can't believe this store is only about 10 minutes away and I only now discovered this treasure! Upscale Resale carries such an amazing collection of antique and other used furniture, as well as accessories including beautiful large-scale oil paintings.
Many of the pieces were well above my reach, particularly the antique pieces. But, once I discovered their back rooms with the more affordable pieces, then I got really excited. In particular, I freaked out when I saw these:
I have been wanting a dresser (though this is actually a buffet) like this ever since seeing the Sarah's House episode where she paints a similar piece white:
Sadly, I don't have a place where I could use these right now or even a garage or somewhere that would make it easy for me to paint them... oh the life of a condo dweller!
A few other pieces that caught my eye included:
Now I will make a point to visit Upscale Resale more regularly - even though it left me wishing I could move to a bigger house and start redecorating! Still, it's fun to look, isn't it? Do you have a store like this near your home?

A few other pieces that caught my eye included:
this little spindle-leg table
another bamboo-type piece that I would attack with white paint!
a chair with great lines
these chairs look a little scary right now, but I can see them looking pretty cool with the frame painted and upholstered in a fun fabric (funny that I did not notice the cute turquoise chairs behind these until now!)
and finally this elephant side table would add a lot of character to a room

Recap of Shopping Trip
Hello! I hope you had a nice weekend. Mine was great - I can't say enough good things about my trip to the DC Big Flea with Eddie Ross!
Though I already knew from his blog that he was very knowledgeable about antiques, I was just so amazed with his creativity. He was full of great ideas and helped us to think outside of the intended use of certain objects.
Take for example this old, out-of-style dress:
I would have walked right past it, but with his help I might think twice now about using the fabric for home decor projects. Or the dresser below. it has a beautiful shape and would work great for its intended use, but why not use it for a sink, as he suggested?
This is not the best picture, but this pretty silk folding screen could be used as a headboard or to fill out a wall above the couch:
There were also lots of chairs that would have a new life with some new fabric and paint. The dining chairs in the second picture below were a set of 6 for only $200! I wish I was still in the market for those (as I was this time last year.)
He also gave us great lessons in shopping for silver, crystal and china. The gorgeous bowl below was $200. I would have thought that was a bit pricey had I not learned that this type of bowl would be sold for nearly $600 if bought new!
Eddie found an amazing bowl with a greek key motif to add to his collection...I was a little jealous :)
Lots and lots of silver...and some great ideas for table decor and gift ideas from him.
There were also some great booths full of artwork. Eddie offered some great ideas for modernizing these vintage prints and making them work with our own decor.
It seem the whole class went back to this booth afterwards. There were so many prints to choose from, for only $5 each! I picked up a few, including this butterfly print:
I was apparently in a butterfly mood that day, as I picked up this vintage silk scarf as well (I just loved the colors). To my surprise, when I was paying for it ($10, already dry cleaned), the lady shows me that it's an Oscar de la Renta!
I couldn't believe it! Now I'm not sure if I'll use it as a scarf or try to think up new ways of using it. In all, the trip really opened up my eyes to new possibilities in design - next time I'm out shopping second-hand or antiques, I'll be thinking "what would Eddie Ross do?" and be creative!
I highly recommend joining him for a shopping trip if he comes near you! It was so much fun yet educational.

Shopping with Eddie & Jaithan tomorrow!
I'm headed to the DC Big Flea shopping trip with Eddie Ross & Jaithan Kochar tomorrow! I wasn't able to go last year and heard so many great things, so I am really looking forward to it! I can't wait to hear all of secrets and creative tips from the man who designed this beautiful window display:

I'm also looking forward to meeting a few local bloggers! Give me a shout if you'll be there!
I'll have the recap next week!

Seeking the Perfect Coffee Table
Now that I have my new couch and Eames rocker, it's time to start looking for a new coffee table. The one I have is a little boxy and out of scale with my small living room to begin with, but with the shape of the new sofa (the sectional curves instead of shaping a perfect "L") the existing table's rectangular proportion simply looks out of place. And I am ok with that because I got more than my money's worth of that purchase and have been dying to replace it for a while. Not to mention it's got puppy teeth marks on the corners...
Given my undecisiveness, this won't be so easy. So, I would love your help! Please let me know your favorite of the below options in the comments. A little background:
- I am maily focused on round tables, but square could potentially work.
- I've got a budget. I could spend up to $300 but am much more comfortable staying under $200
- I am thinking of going with either this rug or this one underneath (although this won't happen for a while.)
- All of the below options have been "pre-approved" by my husband :)
I feel like everywhere else I've looked, the tables were either too pricey or the style wasn't quite right, but I am open to any other suggestions you may have! I look forward to your comments!

3. Overstock, 4. CSN Stores (you've got to look past the horrible sofa in the background!)
5. CSN Stores, 6. Amazon

Shopping for Fabrics at Tonic Living
I just came across a great online shop for fabrics, and thought I'd share! Tonic Living is a fun fabric shop out of Canada, but they do ship to the U.S. as well. Take a look at some of my favorites from their vast collection:
Delilah Quarts and Quatrefoils Pewter
Best Friend Gray and Cufflink Yellow
Quatrefoils Cream and Sweet William Sand
Cotton Oatmeal, Flatiron Black and Gladstone Black & White
Bloom Gray and Edenamber
Woodcut Garden Pink and Night & Day Sparkle
There is lots more to see on their website. What do you think? Who is your go-to source for fabrics?

Shopping at Burlington Coat Factory
Have you gone to Burlington Coat Factory lately? While I rarely do, I check in there from time to time because I find some great home decor items. For example, the sheets I made into decorative pillows and soon-to-be curtains, are by Jonathan Adler and were a great bargain. I stopped by this past weekend to see if I could score some goodies, and was delighted to find a whole collection of home items in a beautiful Waverly trellis pattern.
I could not resist making a few purchases, including the pieces above. From top:
1. Napkins - set of four only $5.99
2. Pot Holders - also $5.99
3. Plates - under $2 per piece
4. I needed a new beach towel, so I could not resist picking this one up for only $12.99
They had so many home decor items in this collection, including pillows, curtains, bedding, mirrors and other wall decor items. I only wish it all came in more diverse colorways, but I still really enjoyed the collection. Do you have a Burlington near you? If so, I recommend checking it out!

Nice Fabrics at Jo-Ann
This weekend, in between painting (I had a small mishap and am still not done with the cabinet), I went to check out the new Jo-Anne Fabrics store that just opened near my home. I am sure many of you have had this store near you for a while, but the one we've had near here was not great - in fact, I had not gone into the store in years. I was pleasantly surprised to check out this new location. They have a great selection of fabrics, including Dwell, Robert Allen and Waverly, and much of it for 50% off! I couldn't believe it. I'm so glad to finally have a decent resource of fabrics near me.
Here are just a few of my favorites (that I could find online - there was a whole lot more to see at the store!)
Do you have a Jo-Anne near you? How do you like it?

New Items at West Elm
I was browsing through the West Elm website, and lots of items caught my eye. I am really liking their
look this summer. I kept staring at the room below, I just love the color scheme so much...it is so soothing!

They have a few new products as well, including pillows, vases, mirrors, furniture and outdoor items. I am all over their new color scheme! I am not even done with my bedroom re-design, and I am already thinking about changing it! Here are my favorites:
6. Cast-Metal Animals (can be used as bookends...I love the bunny one!)

New Jonathan Adler Goodies
I'm constantly browsing and adding items to my cart at various online stores, but rarely do they become actual purchases. Well, one day last week I was checking out some items on Jonathan Adler, and could not resist hitting the checkout button. I fell in love with this vase, but knowing that the last thing I need is another vase, I was excited to find the same pattern in a mug! I've been needing a new pencil holder for my desk, so I thought this could work. I also got a tissue holder. Random, but we keep tissues near our bed and the little cardboard box they come in aren't always the most attractive. Here are my purchases:
Oh, and they were offering free gift wrap, so I thought I'd treat myself to cute packaging:

Shopping at Spiegel
Good morning! I hope your weekend was good. Unfortunately, I ended up not meeting up with my client after all. She wasn't feeling good, so we agreed to reschedule for next weekend. Honestly, I don't mind having a little more time to prepare.
While working on her design board, I ran across some interesting items at Spiegel. It was an unexpected place for sure, but I was surprised to see some nice furniture and home accessories there. Check it out:
These were my favorites, but there is more on the website. Best part are the prices! I think I'll be adding this store to my list of go-to places for new accent furniture and accessories. Have you ever shopped there for home items?
If you are off work today, Lucky you! Have a good one.
