From the Inspiration Folder

I just came across this image from the DC edition of Apartment Therapy, and fell in love. The color scheme manages to be so cheery and soothing at the same time.

One of my favorite features is the wallpaper covering the doors on either side of the fireplace. Isn't it such a nice touch?

Have a great week!

An Inspiring Tiny Studio Apartment

Ever since I came across photos of Caroline's tiny studio in Apartment Therapy DC, I haven't been able to stop looking through them! Her home is so charming, and I am just amazed at how well she utilized the little space she has.

I mean, she has managed to put a piano in this 475 square-foot studio!

Loving her sweet color scheme of white, black and pink.

Her adorable, retro-inspired kitchen:

And last but not least, her colorful collection of shoes!

There are lots more images in her house tour here. I hope you are as inspired as I was to make better use of every nook and cranny in our homes!

From the Inspiration Folder

I just recently came across images of the 2010 Atlanta Symphony Associates Decorators' Show Home & Gardens, and fell instantly in love with the work of Turner Davis Interiors, who designed the home's sunroom. It must be all the pink! Isn't it lovely?

So glad the long weekend is here!! In addition to enjoying the last bit of summer sun, I am planning to try a few more paint samples, so I will be sure to let you know how that goes (wish me luck!)

Have a great one!

Color Series ~ Charcoal & Peachy Pink

Our latest color to explore different combinations with is charcoal. Today, I am mixing it with a soft peachy-pink!

This has to be one of my favorite color schemes. While this combination leans on the feminine side, I love that the gray helps to toughen the pink. Take a look at some examples:

I decided to keep the feminine vibe going for this week's moodboard. What do you think?

Happy Friday!

Wishing you a wonderful Summer weekend! I plan to spend lots of time outdoors enjoying the sun, but if only I could be sitting in a balcony just like this...

So pretty, isn't it? Have a great one!

Happy Holiday Weekend!

Finally, a long weekend ahead of us. Even though I don't have any big, exciting plans, I am so happy to have an extra day to sleep in and hopefully dip in the pool for the first time this year! Can't wait!

I just wanted to share this image I just added to my inspiration folder from this month's Canadian House and Home. It was on their cover, and also in a story about using ceiling medallions as wall decor. I think that is a great idea! They posted a how-to video here.

Enjoy your weekend! What are you up to?

Looking Back - Interiors in Lucky Magazine

When it comes to magazines, I am a borderline hoarder - they seem to take over every room in my house. Lately I've been going through some of them and filing away only my favorite articles, but there are two magazines I simply will not part with: Domino, for obvious reasons and for the fact that I have every single issue, and Lucky, since I also own every issue since their debut. I actually have the first three years filed away at my parents' house (yeah, I know...) and when I went to visit them a couple of weeks ago, I went through some of the issues to decide whether I should keep them or not.

Did you know/remember that they used to feature interiors before Domino came around? That used to be my favorite part of the magazine, and I wish that since Domino's gone, they would reinstate the column. I'll keep wishing, but for now I wanted to share one of the articles with you.

Lucky May 2003

sorry text is fuzzy, my intent was to show you the images

Part of the reason I have an attachment to this magazine is that since I started getting them in college, I would look at articles like this one and dream about gratuating and getting my own place. I never did get to live in a cute studio like this or own a pink chair, but it's still fun to look back at the pages that would let my imagination run free.

There is no way I'm throwing these out! What were your favorite magazines growing up?

Have a great weekend!

Decorating with Hints of Pink

Hello! Hope you had a good weekend. Mine was busy with a combination of time spent with friends and school work. I have only two weeks left of school, until I get my decorating certificate! But things may be a bit quiet around here as I focus on wrapping up my project. I will share everything with you when class ends.

I do have another potential project in the works...I'm slowly convincing my husband to repaint the living room to create a whole new design scheme. We have blue walls right now and I'm pretty tired of them. As I need to find images that will sway my husband in the right direction, I've been browsing through all of my inspiration folders. Unfortunately all the images that grab my eye the most seem to have a hint of pink in them...they are not exactly going to convince him!

Sigh...I'll just keep on dreaming, and work on finding a scheme that can actually work!

Happy Valentine's Day Weekend!

I'm excited for this weekend, mostly because the snow is finally starting to melt, and I'll be able to get out of the house for a bit! Between doing some work for the blog, school and home, I will of course spend some romantic time with my husband. We haven't figured out our plans yet, but I know that regardless of what we do, it will sure beat last year's. Though it was our first Valentine's day as a married couple, I managed to get in a car accident that day! I spent the evening laying on the couch unable to move. Yeah, it was awesome...

So let's hope this year is a better one! I hope you enjoy your weekend, too! Do you have any special plans? Do tell!
