Sadly, they would not allow us to take pictures, so I thought this week I would instead highlight the work of some of my favorite designers from the event.
First up is Sally Steponkus. If you live in the DC area, surely you have heard of her. Or maybe you've seen her in House Beautiful's list of 20 "New Wave" Interior Designers to watch. This was her sitting room in last year's Design House:
Sally's room this year, the master bedroom, was so soothing and suited the 100-year-old Georgian home beautifully. I had the chance to speak to her for a few minutes, and loved hearing about the start of her career. While she did not attend design school, she was able to assist a few highly-regarded designers in the area, ultimately starting the successful business she has had for nearly ten years. I always love hearing stories such as hers because they remind me that if you have the passion and the drive, you can achieve your dreams. She was so friendly too!
I find her style so refreshing, especially for the DC area, where people tend to go for more traditional designs. Here are some images of her work:
I am completely smitten with her apartment, featured in Southern Living (be sure to check the link for more!):

I can't wait to get up to the show house this year! I wasn't going to go, but the pictures I saw on a few blogs that were able to get pictures made me commit to heading up there.
I love Steponkus' work, too. Thanks for sharing the pics!
All gorgeous! I particularly like the bedroom with the charcoal walls... such a departure for me. Thanks for sharing. xo Erica
Jeannine, I think it's definitely worth the drive! You will love it.
I love the pink sofa!
